Electrolux’s top 5 cloud takeaways | Cloud Core

Newsletter • 4 min read

Welcome to September’s Cloud Core 👋

I wanted to loop you in on some golden insights we snagged from a recent event in Sweden.

We were joined by home appliance heavyweights Electrolux, plus our pals at Microsoft

They really spilled the beans (insert joke about an Electrolux washing machine) on their cloud journeys. They cooked up a storm (sorry), and the takeaways were really worth hoovering up (last one I promise).

Spoiler alert: They didn’t talk about washing machines, ovens or hoovers.

(They did talk about time machines).

Here’s the key points:

🤔 Reasons for cloud are changing.

Besides the usual suspects like agility and innovation, things like sustainability, talent access, security, and the shift from CapEx to Opex are nudging teams to cloud.

🧠 Skills are a game-changer, not a tick-box

Think communities and gamification. And guess what? It's not just for the low or mid-level talent. Leaders need the knowledge to call the shots.

🤨 “CCoE but for me”

Establishing a Cloud Center of Excellence (CCoE) is essential, but the setup should vary based on your org structure.

🔒 Security on lock, but not restrictive

The tools, automation, and partners for round-the-clock monitoring, plus how to keep tabs on OpenAI.

🚀 A time machine would be good

Finally, they went all DeLorean on us: if they could go back in time, what would they do differently in cloud?

Look, I’ve really only scratched the surface of what the guys had to say, but we’ve picked out some of the most important stuff in this easy-to-read infographic, so check it out.

Whether you’re navigating a tricky phase in your cloud journey or gearing up for a migration, their tips are pure gold.

[Some of the experts also joined our most recent Cloud Core podcast to chat about their experiences - so you can listen here.]

📢 Cloud quote of the month

"When I started, I was very cautious. Understand the bureaucracy of the organisation and use it to your advantage – and just go ahead.”

- Kaveh Djavaherian, Global Director of Cloud at Electrolux

🤔 What’s going on at Google Cloud?

Using Google Cloud or thinking about it?

Well, last week, we were joined by Stefan from Google, giving his expert inside view from the recent Google Cloud Next event.

He shared his 5 hottest takeaways - think AI, data, security and more - and what it all means for businesses like yours.

And we pulled them into this cool interactive Google graphic so you can flick through the key points.

👋 A raise of hands

Hands up who went on a flight this summer?

Hands up whose flight was also delayed?

Thought so.

Did you know cloud can really play its part in predicting or reducing flight delays?
Well, it can. So read this.
