The Client.
Founded in 2002, Fonecta is the largest provider of digital sales and marketing services in Finland. Fonecta helps over 36 000 companies understand their customers and implement marketing solutions that suit them best.
Project Background.
Fonecta contracts Nordcloud as its partner for our Managed Cloud Services for maintaining their AWS Cloud Infrastructure.
Furthermore, our Cloud Engineer from our Cloud Implementation Department is also assisting the company in the deployment of AWS Inspector and in the Cost Optimisation of the AWS infrastructure.
The Challenge.
Fonecta came to us in early 2019, because they were in need of a partner for managing their AWS infrastructure after office hours. Fonecta was only able to oversee their cloud infrastructure during normal office hours, from 9 am until 5 pm.
As a solution, Nordcloud was contracted to monitor Fonecta’s AWS environment during other times.
The Solution.
Nordcloud implemented AWS Inspector to Fonecta’s current AWS environment and the solution enables best practises in security, automated identification of application security issues and enforcement standards in targeted DevSecOps processes.
After the implementation, the solution has relieved vulnerabilities, which have been fixed and now Fonecta feels that they have the visibility that enables them to trust their environments.

Enhanced onboarding efficiency
Collaborative implementation of AWS inspector
- Close collaboration with Fonecta’s experienced architects facilitated the implementation of AWS Inspector.
- Both stateful and stateless EC2 instances underwent thorough security assessments using the automated service.
Cost optimisation
- Our team devised a comprehensive cost optimization plan targeting EC2 and RDS instances across the entire environment.
- Manual optimization processes were implemented for stateful instances to ensure data protection while maximizing cost efficiency.
Roadmap for automated optimisation
- Future plans include the automation of cost optimization procedures, particularly for stateless EC2 instances.
- By leveraging automation, we aim to streamline the optimization process further and enhance scalability.
