Cloud Engineer track is for people who have experienced on maintaining/implementing/designing system infrastructures e.g. building servers, writing server automation scripts etc. Cloud Engineer work would continue on this kind of responsibilities where the “cloud enabled” Cloud Engineer is working with infrastructure as code, where customers infra is build and automated in public cloud using AWS/Azure technologies and services like CloudFormation and Azure Resource Manager (infrastructure as a code). Application & Data Architect track is for people who have a robust software development background and efficiency on at least one of the following programming languages: C#, JavaScript, Python or Java. Application and Data Architects are learning to develop applications from cloud native perspective, whether it be deployed to container clusters or using serverless technologies like Azure Functions. The code behind their solutions is written using the latest standards and modern frameworks and libraries. Essential skills for DevOps are taught during the university. The architects orienting towards data architecture expertise will additionally participate in data-related trainings. Both tracks are going through lot of AWS/Azure services and utilising those, but whereas on Cloud Engineer track scripting knowledge is important mainly for CloudFormation/ARM where infrastructure is described as YAML or JSON templates, in Cloud Developer track programming experience is crucial since your going to learn modern application development e.g. utilising Serverless technologies.
