The Challenge.
Viva Labs’ goal is to make life as easy as possible via automating home – improving security, simplifying life, and saving energy, providing its customers the benefits of a smart home. The company was founded in 2012 with aim of making smart home security a mass market product. By using artificial intelligence, Viva simplifies smart homes, making them valuable to users. The company enables partners within the utility, telecommunications, and other industries to quickly launch cutting edge smart home products under their own brand, strengthening their existing product portfolio, driving revenue, and increasing customer loyalty. The first Viva-based solution launched in Norway in November 2015 under the Vord brand and Viva currently power smart home solutions across Europe, including for the Austrian telecom leader A1 Telekom Austria. Viva Labs has been a Nordcloud Managed Cloud customer since December 2017.
Since launching their online platform, Viva Labs quickly encountered the positive challenge of rapid growth. They recognised the importance of user experience, continuous service development and scalability, and therefore focus heavily on software development. The rapid business expansion has resulted in Viva Labs having a growing infrastructure on AWS. While Viva Labs has some AWS-skilled employees, they felt that the increasing demands for infrastructure management diverged their attention from the core business. As a result, Viva Labs reached out to Nordcloud for help and support.
The Solution.
Nordcloud onboarded Viva Labs to the core of our Managed Cloud portfolio. With the help of the monitoring solution from AWS and Pingdom, the status of Viva Labs infrastructure is managed 24/7 and service availability is brought to the public cloud era. Nordcloud also provides incident response with a 30-minute response time based on alerts from the monitoring service. Nordcloud also provides backups and possibility to ask ad-hoc service requests as a part of the solution.
The Results.
Through using Nordcloud, Viva Labs is able to provide a higher service level guarantee for customers without needing to divert focus away from its core business of building a market-leading smart home platform solution. Nordcloud allows for cost-efficient peace of mind for Viva and a stable and secure solution for its customers.
Next steps.
As Viva Labs business and AWS implementation continues to grow, Nordcloud will also improve Viva Labs infrastructure resilience by introducing further service elements from its current offerings.
