Redesigning a lifestyle service — The new responsive maku.fi.

The Challenge.

A-lehdet wanted their cooking and food content to be easily available on all devices. Maku.fi was a service that had outdated technology and some limitations in responsiveness. The concept required a total redesign to include a community aspect and means to attract new users through top bloggers and attractive content.

A-lehdet had earlier worked with us on a project called Tuulilasi.fi. This project had a technology platform that could be further developed for Maku.fi. A-lehdet felt that Tuulilasi.fi was a great success and wanted to continue working with the same team.

The Solution.

The main goal of the project was to end up with a modern, responsive web service that would offer a great user experience. Together with top-notch content, Maku.fi was to become an interesting food medium that lives in parallel with the user’s day-to-day life.

Starting the project was very straight forward. We set a deadline for the project and started working backwards to create a timeline for the milestones. It was an intense project that included A-lehdet development team, editorial team, end-users, and other third parties. We wanted to develop a platform that, if required, would be easy to further develop in the future.

The Results.

Soon after it’s launch Maku.fi met all its KPI goals. It is a delightful service and has been very positively received by food enthusiasts in Finland.
