Raiffeisen Bank International.
Developing a self-service Databricks data platform on AWS for 10 different network units
- 1,300+ users can now collaborate with data products more efficiently
- ~700 use cases streamlined using the self-service platform
- Robust security and compliance thanks to Zero Trust
Project Summary.
The client.
Raiffeisen Bank International AG (RBI) is a leading corporate and investment bank in Central and Eastern Europe. The group comprises numerous financial service providers, for instance in the fields of leasing, asset management, as well as M&A.
The challenge.
Enabling efficient collaboration between units using data products
RBI wanted their 10 country network units to be able to collaborate more efficiently on data products. The aim was to enable self-service while maintaining compliance with the strict regulations and security requirements required for financial services organisations.
The solution.
A self-service Databricks data platform on AWS
Nordcloud worked with RBI to develop a self-service data platform using Databricks and Unity Catalog with AWS-native services such as Lambda, EC2, DynamoDB and Athena.
The platform enables users to create and share AWS workspaces with the relevant Databricks resources and the right access levels, all deployable via Terraform and GitHub Actions
Importantly, we built the platform using Zero Trust to provide the high level of security and compliance RBI needed.
Results.
1,300+ users can collaborate more easily and securely
Using the self-service platform, 1,300+ users at RBI are collaborating across 130+ workspaces. The platform has been used to enable approximately ~700 use cases so far.
Thanks to the data governance and automated monitoring, RBI is benefiting from the enhanced collaboration and efficiency alongside robust security and compliance.
