We offer a full-time position as a Google Cloud Architect in our small and highly skilled team in Bjørvika, in the heart of Oslo.

Oslo is currently one of the fastest-growing cities in Europe. Situated between mountain ranges and at the head of the beautiful Oslofjord, the city has everything to offer in terms of outdoor activities. The recent years’ boom in everything from underground music, niche art, tasty microbrewery beers, the vibrant tech community with lots of meet-up groups and several hacker- and maker spaces, means there is always something to do.

As a Google Cloud Architect, you’ll find yourself participating in various customer projects, from new infrastructure builds and migrations, to audits and big data. Day-to-day work can be anything from implementing configuration management infrastructure to taking a step back and giving workshops and design recommendations to a technical team. Furthermore, you will become a trusted advisor for high profile enterprise businesses and jointly manage the customer relationship and roadmap with the Nordcloud Sales team. All in all, you’ll have a selection of different ‘hats’ to put on and have the luxury of following customer projects from start to release.

Ideally, you’re bringing the following skills with you:

  • Public cloud platform expert knowledge of Google Cloud (AWS and/ or Azure is a plus)
  • A background as Linux OR Windows system administrator or backend developer
  • Coding/scripting skills (Bash, Python etc.)
  • Hands-on experience in creating solution architectures
  • Designing and implementing landing zone architectures
  • Infrastructure as code, i.e. CDK, Terraform, Deployment Manager and similar
  • Experience in building CI/CD pipelines
  • Container technologies experience (e.g. Docker)
  • At least theoretical knowledge of container orchestration technologies (e.g. Kubernetes, Swarm or OpenShift)
  • Willingness to experiment with and learn brand-new technologies (e.g. Anthos)
  • Knowledge of on-premises technologies (e.g. VMware, OpenStack or Hyper-V)
  • Knowledge of security, network, virtualization, load balancer, storage and database
  • It’s an extra asset if you know or willing to know more of Big Data / Machine Learning type of projects
  • Active customer consultant and pre-sales attitude as a must

All in all, you have a solid engineering/technical background/hands-on experience with conceptualising, strategizing and architecting cloud solutions. And it would also be a plus if you understand security, network, virtualization, load balancer, storage and database.

To give you an idea what kind of a person we are looking for here is a small story of how we work. We all work directly with customers and each of us must be able to explain technical content to people who might be less familiar with the technology. Working with different people and teams is not a problem for us. To us delivering quality solutions is more important than “just getting the job done”. We don’t either mind travelling through one of the world’s most beautiful countries.
