Ignite Reflections: Insights we’re bringing home from San Francisco.
You know that moment when tech stops being slides and starts being real?
For me, it was Daniel Unkelhäusser, our DACH CEO, grinning like a kid after his Waymo ride – 25 minutes through San Francisco in a car with no driver. Pure autonomy with no human intervention. That’s when all the talk about AI clicked: this isn’t theory anymore. It’s here. And it’s moving fast.
The Microsoft Ignite takeaways that matter most
AI feels like déjà vu – in the best way
Walking through the Ignite sessions, I kept thinking this AI journey is just like the cloud journey – and we know every step of it. First came the hype, then the pilots, and now we’re talking about governance, security and maturity. We know this playbook. We’ve run it before with hundreds of projects. That’s a huge advantage for us – and for our customers.
Azure Local stole the show
I’ve been betting on Azure Local for months, and now Ignite proved it’s the right horse. The Azure Local booth was much more crowded than other Microsoft booths. This just shows how much interest and momentum the solution is gaining in the markets. Azure Local is all about sovereignty and compliance – the major topics on the European market and among our clients. We also had insightful collaboration with Microsoft and clients around Azure Local. We've got great feedback on our fast progress and deep collaboration.
Agents everywhere – and they’re not just a tech toy
Indrayudh Ghosh, Nordcloud’s Global Head of Hybrid Cloud Engineering, nailed it: agents aren’t a side project. They cut across every business function. Strategy, governance, security – every department needs a plan. As he put it, one of the major challenges is the management of the entire ecosystem of AI agents deployed – not only Microsoft, but also third-party agents. Agent 365? That’s the glue to manage all these moving parts under one control panel.
Cloud and data still matter
Yes, Ignite was all about agentic AI. But here’s the truth: none of it works without solid cloud and data foundations. If you want the magic up front, you need the muscle underneath. As Mark Bennett, our CEO, put it plainly: agentic is not only about increasing productivity – it’s about how we support the need for agentic AI through core architecture and the infrastructure behind it. That’s a story we need to underline.
So, what’s next for Nordcloud?
- Double down on Azure Local and digital sovereignty. It’s a sweet spot for Nordcloud, as we’ve been incubating and building it for a while. We’ve already defined a holistic approach; we’ve taken concrete steps with our clients. Next step is to scale for hybrid scenarios and sovereign workloads.
- Agent preview in Azure Copilot. Preview access means we can start shaping governance and security for multi-agent environments now. The aim is to adopt early with private previews.
- Innovate with lighthouse clients. The first movers always get the spotlight. We take the announced capabilities from decks to real-life solutions for early adopter clients. This is where we strive – together with innovative clients, working with the latest and greatest tech, inspired by Ignite.
- Sharpen the narrative. Agentic AI isn’t just about productivity – it excels when the cloud and data foundations are in place with a strong focus on security. We’ll make that connection crystal clear.
- Enable our teams. Think hands-on demos, pattern libraries, and build-along sessions.
- Leverage the marketplace. Packaging our offers for Microsoft’s marketplace is a huge opportunity – and we are on the journey already.
One quote to stick on your wall
“AI will not take your job – but a person who knows AI will.”
Those words were echoing at Ignite in San Francisco. Let’s make sure we are those people and help our customers become them too.
