AWS re:Invent 2025: What Inspired Us and What’s Next for Nordcloud.

Las Vegas. Over 60,000 tech enthusiasts. And one big theme: AI.

Walking through the buzzing halls of re:Invent this year, you couldn’t escape it – AI was at the centre of every topic AWS showcased. From infrastructure sessions to keynote visions, the message was clear: AI is moving closer to the productivity plateau, delivering more results and less hype.

The Big Picture:  More than 60% of sessions used “AI” as keyword

AWS is doubling down on AI, shifting the conversation from migration-first to modernization powered by AI. That doesn’t mean traditional cloud infrastructure is disappearing – it remains critical – but the real momentum lies in how AI integrates into every layer of the stack.

For Nordcloud, this means our proposals and offerings must embrace this shift with AI-driven optimization, automation, and security solutions.

AWS aims to remain the #1 infrastructure provider for AI

Here are a few highlights that caught our attention:

  • Amazon Bedrock, especially AgentCore, is becoming the beating heart of AWS’s generative AI strategy. If you’re not experimenting with it yet, you’re already behind
  • A jaw-dropping demo of real-time image translation – think avatars morphing live on stage. It’s a glimpse into immersive experiences soon to appear in enterprise use cases
  • Kiro Frontier Agent is emerging as your virtual developer.

Frontier Agents: The Silent Game-Changer

By introducing Frontier Agents – Security and DevOps acting like virtual consultants – AWS is stepping into a new dimension of software development and operations. These agents are already in use or close to it.

They won’t replace our engineers, but they could redefine how we deliver managed services. For Nordcloud, this opens doors to agent-assisted operations, reducing manual overhead and freeing our experts to focus on strategy and oversight.

European Sovereign Cloud: The Missed Conversation

Surprisingly, European Sovereign Cloud (ESC) barely got airtime at re:Invent. But we will stay strong on it. With Europe and the Middle East pushing for local data processing, Nordcloud’s positioning as a European leader is a strategic advantage.

Expect us to double down on sovereignty narratives and explore services like AI Factory for regulated sectors.

Skills, Roles, and the T-Shaped Future

Werner Vogels’ remarkable keynote stayed with me. First, he announced he’s stepping down, giving the stage to the next generation. Then he tackled the question on everyone’s mind: Will AI take my job?

The answer: it depends. The most resonant point was the shift from I-shaped to T-shaped profiles. Deep expertise is great, but in the AI era, broadening your skills matters more than ever.

Why?
Because L1/L2 – junior to mid-level and process-based operations – are being automated.

AI mimics human actions, and once thoroughly defined, these actions can be embedded into models, driving costs down at scale. Think incident resolution or identifying vulnerable API endpoints, outdated libraries, or overly permissive roles in the cloud.

T-shape isn’t new – it first emerged in the 1980s – but in 2025, AI acceleration makes it more critical than ever.

If we don’t adapt, purely engineering-oriented roles will struggle. At Nordcloud, we already have development plans to build consultancy skills and broaden technical horizons. We’re ready for the age of AI.

Training: The Upskilling Imperative

AWS’s investment in Skill Builder is massive. It started in 2025 with new functionalities. In 2026 Skill Builder will be the platform for sharing technology developments with the AWS community: courses, micro-learning, documentation, labs – all in one place.

For us, it’s a chance to upskill internally and help customers future-proof their teams. We can use Skill Builder to learn new capabilities and practice in labs before deploying in our own sandbox or customer accounts.

Micro-credentials will be key going forward. The pace of change in cloud is accelerating, and we need to stay ahead of the curve.

Landing Zones & Go-To-Market

We also see further potential in AWS landing zones as a packaged offering that accelerates compliance and governance for customers. At Nordcloud, we have years of experience in building these securely governed foundations for our customers.

What does this mean for Nordcloud in 2026?

We’ll bring these insights into our offerings, proposals, and conversations. Expect more AI-driven solutions, stronger sovereignty positioning, and a relentless focus on enabling our customers to thrive in this new era.

Because innovation doesn’t stop in Vegas – at Nordcloud, we accelerate it! Stay tuned!
