18 Nordcloudians, 1000 kilometres
What was the idea behind the charity run?
In the beginning of 2021 Nordcloud launched a sports challenge between all the countries to increase general employee health and well-being. This led the Nordcloud UK team to the idea that we could run for a charity in benefit of the less fortunate during these unprecedented times.
With the whole team working from home why is this so important?
As you can imagine the usual day-to-day activities, such as walking to the office have completely changed due to the on-going pandemic. Sitting for long periods of time, working from home and only seeing your colleagues on video calls, clearly takes its toll, making us all more passive, less stress resilient, tired and generally feeling blue. The best way to mitigate this is to take care of your physical well-being and have a collective common goal outside of work.
What exactly are we doing?
A group of 18 Nordcloudians from both the UK and Netherlands teams are aiming to achieve 1000 kilometres in the month of March together. We have people taking part across all experience levels, from seasoned runners to first-time enthusiasts. We also want to raise funds for a charity we thought would need it the most.
What is the charity and why did we choose them specifically?
We chose The Trussell Trust because they support a nationwide network of food banks, 1200 in total, and have an ambitious 5-year strategic plan to end hunger in the UK. Due to the coronavirus pandemic the economy has been hit hard, with a wave of furloughs and job losses leading to even greater strain placed on the network of food banks. On this basis we feel like with the help The Trussell Trust we can have a really positive and tangible impact on our local community.

We want to raise £1000 by the end of March, 2021. We are confident that it’s more than achievable!

Team spirit! Everyone wants to do their best and push themselves to help the team, get healthier, have a laugh and most importantly reach the goal!
